House mice vary in colour from light brown to dark grey and sometimes have a lighter colour on their bellies. They have proportionately large ears, small eyes and small feet. Their size ranges from 2-3 inches in length and their tail is usually the same length as their body.

They can be found throughout all of Ontario and they have lived amongst humans for many, many years within and around urban and rural residential, recreational/cottage and commercial properties. Just the presence of a house mouse can be upsetting and frightening to many.

Because house mice rapidly reproduce, they can infest a house very quickly! They tend to become extremely annoying and troublesome, getting into stored food, and will pollute many areas throughout a property with urine and feces. House mice are mostly active at night, the sounds of them scurrying about in search of food can be quite disturbing to occupants trying to sleep.
